Can a black/white couple ever have a kid that is blond?

my best friend girlfriend just had a baby..there are traces of blond hair on the new born baby, making it obvious she is going to be a natural blond..by the way he is african american and his girl friend is white..personally the baby looks 100% white to me..do you guys think she cheated or there is a chance that this might be for real..

Can a black/white couple ever have a kid that is blond?

IT is VERY possible!! You never really know what traces are in ones family. I have seen many Biracial children with blonde hair and blue eyes to boot. Also, just because a baby is born with light hair doesn't mean it will be a natural anything. If your friend is having doubts he should request a paternity test and if it's just you having doubts you should probably mind your business.

does anybody on either side of the family have blonde hari. if so then yes its possible.

NOp! could be colored but not fully blonde. Coz black color dominates.

"Biology" rules.

It does happen.

If there are serious doubts, a paternity test would tell the truth. If there were such bad trust issues that a paternity test was demanded, then there isn't much of a relationship there to start with.

well thats their personal issue you don't have to put it online, unless they asked you.

Yeah I doubt that baby is going to have blonde hair, maybe a light brown, but blonde, who knows. What you all think? Plus, it's too soon to tell, all babies have light colored hair when they are newborn.

Believe it or not, it could be his. My boyfriend had a baby with his ex (she is white) 10 years ago, the little girl is white as hell no black features what so ever and my boyfriend is very dark. All this time he kept thinking she wasn't his, so they did the DNA test and sure enough he was the father.

She looks nothing like him! The fact is...his ex's genes are stronger.

It is very possible. Many children with parents from different races look like only one. Also there could be a genetic mutation leading to the difference. What is more likely, though, is that your African American friend has white ancestry (many many African Americans do, from when their ancestors were slaves) and has some blond in his genes.

first off, my kids were darker than a lot of the "black" babies I saw in the nursery, and mine are bona fide white children. it seems funny to me, but a lot of times, pigmentation does not show up for several months. I used to work with a girl who had a mixed baby, and since she had dark curly hair, you wouldn't have known if you didn't know her. he was really light-skinned, so the baby's coloring doesn't matter at this point. not only that, since he is part white, his coloring may not be as dark as his daddy's. the way a child looks is not always indicative of parentage. (my sister has two sons, and neither look like their father, but like MY BROTHER! if I went by who they look like, I would be disgusted every time I saw them!)

as for the color of the child's hair, it is possible that the mother's genes prevailed, and that the child will have "white folks' hair". also keep in mind that children's hair changes as they get older. (my daughter was born with jet black hair, while mine and her father's are both a bit lighter. she was dark. she really did look like a little black baby, as I was told by her father's mother. over time, her hair changed, and now that she is four, she has curly red hair. she looks nothing like she did the day she was born.) if your friend has any question, he should take it up with his girlfriend. however, I don't think he should make any judgments based on the way the child looks. if, by the time he is a year old, the father still doesn't think it could be his baby, maybe he should seek a DNA test to be sure. also, keep in mind that being with someone who you think has cheated is hard enough, and it may lead to the end of the relationship if he can't resolve his issues. best of luck!

It is definitely possible - look at Heidi Klum and Seal - they have 2 children together and on looks white -

or this bi-racial couple in england who had twins and one was white and one was black http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/ar...

it genetics, and peoples backgrounds are so racially diverse these days!

Look, it's possible, but unlikely for a fully blonde child to result. You say "traces of blonde" in your amplification rather than "blonde". How significant are those traces? It's certainly possible for a child to be much fairer than an African-American parent.

Hair colour is controlled by a number of genes with complex and not fully understood interactions. If the man is biracial (and he almost certainly has had some Caucasian DNA introduced somewhere along the line), then it's even more likely the more recent this was.

If the father is confident that it's his baby, then support them and try not to spend any time worrying about it!

Of Course a blk/wht biracial baby can have blonde hair or any other color hair or eyes for that matter. Many do! Because of slavery and the rape of blk women that occured during it's institution most blks in America also have white genes (about 80%). Obviouslly you don't know many biracial people at all to ask such an ignorant question. By the way, even black people that aren't half white can have light hair or light eyes.

Could be real. Each person has many genes for hair color, eye color, height, skin color, etc. Even a black person with obvious african features may have a few blond hair genes. It is random chance if his blond hair gene combined with the white mothers blond hair gene. IF that occurs and the other hair color genes are all light from both sides and there is no black hair genes from either mom or dad, the child of a black man and a white woman would have blond hair. Chances of this happening are small, but possible. A lot of other traits are this way. It depends on what the most dominant genes are. Usually the darker pigments are more dominant. If there is one dark gene in the child's DNA the child will be dark.

Say hair color is determined by 6 genes--3 from dad and 3 from mom. If all 6 that the child gets are blond it does not matter what color the parents hair is the child will be blond. THe other 3 in mom and dad could have all been black and if so the hair color of both parents would be black. If the child gets one black gene then her hair will not be blond, but may be brown.
