Dying hair from blond to almost black?

I have very light blonde hair thatIi get colored by my stylist. I want to do an at home job of a dark brown almost black, just somthing different for a couple of weeks then I will have my stylist put it back to blonde. Any adverse affects I should watch for or any suggested brand to use. I don't to end up with green hair. Also will it be hard for my salon to bring it back to blond?

speaking as a stylist, PLEASE use a semi- perm color. Cause when you decide to go back to a blonde, it will make your stylist work alot easier, and plus your hair will thank you. Using a color stripper on hair is sometimes worse then a bleach to use on the hair, and that is what your stylist will use on your hair when you decide to back to blonde. Stay in the neutral family of color cause if your hair is to porous it will suck the tone not the color.

Go to a brown, not an almost black, becuase if you're naturally really light, it will look harsh on you and make you look really washed out.

Otherwise no adverse effects. I suggest Loreal, it's a very gentle color. You may even consider a semi permanant color if you only want it for a couple of weeks, rather than a permamant color. Just look on the box for the words semi permanant.

Another good suggestion is for you to try (not buy) a few wigs in several colors at a wig shop before you decide on the shade that best suits you. that will take all the guess work out of it.

go to cvs or walgreens and get the revlon hair coloring thing. i think number 40 is real pretty.

My friend had light brown hair which she dyed black. It looked okay dark, but stupid when her roots came through. She tried to dye it back to brown but it went whitey yellow with ginger roots! Also, her hair is in quite bad condition now.

Having said this, she used home dying kits, so maybe a salon would be a better idea.

To be honest, I would not do it but if you have to here is my take on the matter... first what you need to do is fill your hair. What this means is you need to put the missing pigment back into your hair before you dye it the dark brown... this meaning you have no warmth so you need to put on a red/orange filler. (I had to do this when I went from platinum blonde to espresso brown) you apply just as you would an all over color. Dont be freaked at the color of your hair, you are going to be coloring over that. Then you apply the desired color (the brown). Make sure to use semi or demi permanant color or your stylist will have one hell of a time getting it out. Please do this with caution and realize that it is not for sure that you will be able to get back blonde as easy as you think... good luck to you
