Colour my hair at home?

I have always had my hair coloured at a salon but I find it too expensive. I would like to know what products I can use on my hair at home. I have been told some horrible stories of hair turning green and I am frightened something terrible will happen to me.

My hair is a dark blonde/brown with blond tints added for many years. I am going grey and I would like a product that will give my hair back its natural colour but cover up the grey. Also I have a dry itchy scalp and would like to know what I can use to stop my scalf being so sensitive.

All home color is damaging. I am a stylist, and have had to correct so many color at home gone bad issues..... Look at it this way... If you are at the salon, your color is custom formulated for your head by a specialist.. Out of a box... your color can be used on ANY hair.... Fine hair, African American Hair, Asian hair, etc..... All different textures that need to be treated differently and according to their texture. Manufacturers need to make sure their product works on all... meaning... It is not gentle. It is going to be as harsh as it gets , so that it covers even the coarsest of textures. This is sooo damaging. You may not see it right away, but within months you will notice a HUGE difference, not to mention the issue of getting the color right.... Is your hair ashy, warm, what level? All of these need to be taken into account when you choose a color..... not as simple as point to a color, and yours is going to look the same. Hope this helps.

I always use Belle Colour. My hair was dark brown but beggining to show the grey. Belle colour covers 100% of grey and its a permanent colour. I have used it many many times without turning green pink orange or any odd colour. I use it once every 8 weeks or so. I think its when you start messing around with other chemicals on your hair that it has odd reactions. But i just stick to the Belle colour all the time and i have never had a problem.

I've been dying/colouring my hair for years, in many different colours and shades. I've never had my hair go green. There are excellent products on the market now, that shouldn't affect your dry scalp, choose one that has a good conditioner and or fruit extracts. You'll also find good ones for grey coverage. If you are really concerned about the dry scalp, probably best to let a professional deal with it.

If you don't want to pay the salon price, try going to a hair school. Students do your hair, but there are professionals assisting them, and they use professional products. The fact of the matter is...color is a touchy thing, and if you mess it up %26amp; have to go to a salon to fix it, corrective coloring usually starts at about $95!! Depending on where you live and hair length, coloring at a hair school usually starts at about $20. It's definately cheaper than having your hair color corrected!!! And for your dry itchy scalp, try using a Tea Tree shampoo. Most brands make one. Good luck!

there are many products which you can buy in most chemist shops from streaking kits to hair colouring and perm kits.if you ask the staff they will tell you all you need to know.most come with full instructions so you should get the results you want for considerably less money.for the dry itchy scalp there is a product called "selsun" which is specially formulated for both conditions, also Nizoral, Polytar, or Alphosyl. these are for the same condition,my daughters use these so i hope this helps you.

be careful, i have been changing the color of my hair for 7 years and for some reason the last time i did it my hair melted off, all of it. maybe you could find a school, where they will do just as good a job as a licensed beautician, for about 1/4 of the price.

DO NOT use an ASH color - this will give your hair the green appearance. Also, dont use a strawberry color or anything with red tones in it - this will give you the orange color. Color your new growth (roots) %26amp; grey areas first %26amp; then work your way down to the tips of your hair. This will give these areas better coverage. As for your scalp - use sometype of dandruff shampoo %26amp; make sure that you GENTLY scratch your scalf to remove dead skin from your scalp area. This should help.
